The ACE with the Train!
All over the East Bay, the Downtown ACE Hardware in Walnut Creek is known simply as "The ACE with the train." This store focusses on their customers, combining excellent customer service with a shopping experience that reminds people of the values of a neighborhood hardware store. MOETRAINS worked to capture this vision with the permanent installation and maintenance on 400 feet of track, suspended 10 feet above the entire showroom floor.
The railway is designed to pick up on the iconic images of the Bay Area, showcasing three of the most recognizable bridges in the world. Both the Golden Gate Bridge and the new Bay Bridge are on full display, bringing pride to the community. In addition, a detailed replica of the Benicia Train Bridge adds an additional connection to residents of the East Bay, who immediately connect with this lesser known, but immediately recognizable landmark.
The G-Scale railway is a permanent display, running every day rain or shine to the delight of shoppers. The store reports a noticeable increase in revenue, and continues to invest in the railroad. During the holiday season, the display becomes a destination attraction which helps ring in the spirit for visitors from all over.

The Downtown ACE Hardware store maintains a 4 star review on Yelp, the popular peer-rating site. We don't think it's a coincidence that a significant percentage of 5 star reviews mention our train as the thing that sets this store apart. Here are just a few of those comments:

Aesthetically, this Ace hardware is awesome! They even have train tracks hanging from the ceiling while a toy train "choo-choos" in a store-wide circle.

Of course, we all know about the overhead train, and how children can make the whistle blow. This is just another touch of neighborhood feeling given to the store by its creative and imaginative people.

It is a charming hardware store and I especially love the train. We even got a great Christmas tree there this year.
